The second round of the New Zealand open golf championship was decided to-day, when J. P. Hornabrook (Manawatu), the present amateur champion, returned the best card with an almost perfect 71. Tom Galloway, the Maungakielcie professional, again played consistently good golf, and returned 72, a similar score to that of his first round. He is now leading the field by three strokes.

The first 32 amateurs qualified for that j championship, and all players with aggre- ] gates of 163 or better go forward for the third and fourth rounds of the open.
