CLERICAL WORKERS.
LOCAL BODY OFFICERS' CASE. QUESTION OF CITATIONS. Steps have been taken by the Local Body Officers' Guild to have the names of local bodies whose employees will come within the scope of the proposed Local Authorities' Officers' Union struck out of the citation paper that has been circulatcd by the Auckland Clerical and Office Staff Employees' Industrial Union of Workers. The latter union is, seeking an award for the first time, and its dispute will be considered in conciliation on October 29. Seeing that a number of local bodies in the Auckland Province have been cited as parties to the proposed award for clerical workers, Mr. T. W. M. Ashby, president of the Local Body Officers' Guild, was asked this morning what the attitude of the guild was in the matter. Mr. Ashby said that the Registrar of Unions in Wellington had agreed to the registration of the Auckland Provincial District Local Authorities' Officers' Industrial Union of Workers, subject to the rules being approved. Advice had been received by him that the rules had been approved, and so far as the formation of a union was concerned, all that required to be done was to submit those rules to a meetingof the union for adoption. In the nieantime, steps had been taken to advise the conciliation commissioner of the fact that the staffs of city councils, borough councils, county councils, electric power boards and town boards which had public offices or exercised jurisdiction within the boundaries of the Auckland provincial district, as well as the office staffs of drainage and transport boards, would come within the membership rules of the Local Body Officers' Union.
