END OF SESSION.

ON FRIDAY NEXT, j "A I DESIRE OF GOVERNMENT. STATEMENT BY MR. SAVAGE. (By Telegraph.—Parliamentary Reporter.) WELLINGTON, this day. The Prime Minister, Mr. M. J. Savage, informed the House of Representatives this morning that he could sc ; r o reason why the House should' not adjourn next Friday. After recounting the list of bills he had outlined earlier in the week that he desired putting through, he said that, if there was any bill strongly debatable, it would have to be held over until next session, as he would not tiike advantage of the lateness of the session to force anything highly contentious through the House. In referring to the contemplated amendment to the Native Land Act, Mr. Savage said there were 50 clauses which were drafted to clean up the "hash" of the previous Government'* attempt at legislation. (Laughter.) It was something of a machinery measur?, and. if tlier.e were any "niggers in the wood pile." or looked like being there, he would have to consider dropping the bill, but he thought it was desirable to pass it this session. "The Statutes Amendment Bill is in charge of the Attorney-General, Mr. Mason," he said, ',and deals with most of the subjects under the sun." Mr. W. J. Broadfoot (National, Waitomo): Will that have to walk the p. 1 a nk 1 Mr. Savage: It will be o;i the plank. Mr. Savage said the Government intended to make it possible to adjourn next Friday. "I am anx : ous to get out of this, and .give some attention to the administration of the law," he added. Mr. J. G. Coates (National. Kali para) asked if the House would meet tomorrow.

Mr.. Savage: Out at Trentham per haps.i (Laughter.)
