PLACEMENT BUREAU.
ONEHUNGA COMMENDATION. OFFICER EXPLAINS SCHEME. At a meeting of the OnehungaManukau Chamber of Commerce last night an address was delivered 011 the activities of the Government placement bureau in Auckland by Mr. J. R. Elsbuiv, officer in charge, wlio impressed the chamber with the efficient methods adopted for placing young men in permanent employment. Mr. Elsbury said that 1278 names of young men between the aces of 18 and 27 were 011 the books of the bureau and their trades or callings numbered 1(S0. The active co-operation of employers was required for its successful achievement, he said. Qii the motion of Mr. ,T. D. Twentyman the chamber resolved, "Tliat, having heard the Government placement officer's explanation of the operations of his Department, the Government be congratulated on its efforts on behalf of the young men, and the chamber expresses its willingness to co-operate 111 any way possible toward placing young men inj * permanent occupations.- I
