HOSPITAL AUXILIARY.

MISS NUTSEY WELCOMED. A a meeting of the council of the Auckland Hospital Auxiliary, a warm welcome was extended to Miss E. Nutsey, lady superintendent of the Auckland Hospital, who returned last week from a trip abroad. The president, Mrs. A. IX Campbell, speaking on behalf of members, expressed her pleasure at Miss Nutsev's return and presented her with a bouquet. Representatives from the Women's Institutes, the Mental Hospital and Oneiiunga branches and the District Nurses City Sewing Circle were present and the following members were elected to the excutive committee: Mrs. A. C. Webster, Mrs. W. H. Teape, Mother Hannah, Mrs. Hutton, Major A. Gordon, Adjutant Hart, Miss Ormond. and Miss A. H. G. Basten. It was stated by the secretary, Miss Cursou, in her report of the activities of the auxiliary, that pyjamas, dressing gowns, nightgowns, slippers and flannels had been supplied to the wards and bedjackets and sun hats for the children's ward, Extra clothing and nourishment had been given tubercular patients, and malt and eodliver oil had been supplied to the district nurses' patients. Stocks of men's footwear and men's clothing had also been purchased. Six hundred and fourteen garments had been received from the sewing circle, and garments had also been received from the Mount Eden branch. Some members from this branch visited the Tt spital each month, with preserves, fruit, and reading matter for the patients. The Mental Hospital branch, it was reported, was steadily extending its work each month at Ivingseat and Avondale, and the Onehunga branch did helpful work in connection with the Infirmary and Alexandra Convalescent Home.

A tribute was also paid to the work of tlie investigation committee, which gave valuable assistance in reporting 011 eases of needy families and in prevent:ng overlapping. The total number of garments given out from the depot was IMS. and IKS families had been assisted.
