YOUTH'S THEFTS.
SUMS OF MONEY TAKEN. SPENT ON AMUSEMENTS. A youth of 17 who admitted three charges of breaking and entering shops and stealing money and women's clothing of a total value of £21 12/10, three charges of stealing money totalling £37 3/3. and one charge of breaking and entering a shop with intent to commit a crime, came before Mr. F. K. Hunt, S.M., .in the Police Court this morning. He was John Graham Hedley, a tailor's cutter. Detective Brown, who interviewed Hedley. produced a number of statements made by accused, admitting the offences. When arrested Hedley had £1 19/10 oil him, but he later handed £12 to the police. In his statements Hedley stated that he entered the slioj« either by fanlights or windows, The money stolen was spent on amusements. He said he told his parents he had been working overtime. At the end of the week he usually gave his mother some extra - money, telling her it was for working overtime. Hedley pleaded guilty and was committed to the Supreme Court for sentence.
