FASTER MAIL SERVICE.

SOUTH AFRICA TO ENGLAND. CAPETOWN, September 15. The mail ship sen-ice between England and South Africa is to be speeded up. At present the journey takes 16 days 15 hours, but the Union-Castle Company hopes to reduce this to less than 14 days each way. At present the mail arrives on a Monday and leaves on a Friday, an arrangement which is of maximum convenience to both the South African and British business men. The Union-Castle Company proposed that tlie ships should leave Southampton on a Friday and arrive at Capetown on a Friday. The South African Shipping Board has pointed out the many disadvantages of this time-table, and it is probable that some other day, possibly a day. in the middle of the week, will be chosen. 1
