BODY ON ROADWAY.
A HIT-AND-RUN VICTIM?
SEVERE INTERNAL INJURIES.
(By Telegraph.—Own Correspondent.) WHAKATANE, Wednesday. Mystery still surr'ounds the death of Mr. Augustus Frederick Lipston Moore on tlie Poroporo Road on Monday night. At the preliminary inquest the coroner, Mr. G. A. Brabant, ordered post-mortem examination, and this ■ extensive internal injuries but few marks of external violence. However, it appears that the man must have been struck by some passing vehicle, and the police are asking for information! regarding cars or lorries using the road' between 7 and 8 o'clock on Monday I evening. j A suggestion that the man might have collapsed and fallen off his bicycle and been run over afterwards is not entertained by the police, who point out that for this to have happened the car must have run over the cycle first, but this had only a slight mark on the handletar.
