NEW TIMBER MILLS.
ACTIVITY AT ROTORUA. RAILWAYS BENEFIT. (By Telegraph.—Own Correspondent.) ROTORUA, tliie day. There has been considerable activity ill the timber trade in the Rotorua district as the result of t>b recent increase in building undertakings, and several new mills have been established in various parts of the district. The increased output is indicated by the returns from the Rotorua railway station, which reports a considerable increase in freight revenue from timber and general goods for the month just ■past,"when compared with the similar period of last year. More than 203,700 feet of timber were dispatched from the Rotorua station during the month, compared with 237,000 feet last year, an increase of 26,100 feet. In addition to this, however, a large quantity ol timber as well as mine props and fencing posts is taken out of the district by road transport. Mill operators report that the K re r sure is now easing off slightly, attnbu - ino- this to the increase in building costs which have dissuaded some people intending to build from proceeding.
