LOWER FREIGHT.
HONEY • PRODUCERS' AIM, BEEKEEPERS' COMPLAINT. / (From Our Own Correspondent.) HAMILTON, Friday. A committee to co-operate with the national association in pressing for a reduction of rail freights on honey was appointed by the South Auckland branch of the National Beekeepers' Association yesterday. Mr. W. Nelson complained it cost him more to have his honey transported from Otorolianga to Auckland by rail than it did to send it from Auckland to London. The rail freight on honey was greater than it was on butter, although it was only half the value, occupied only half the space and did not require insulated wagons. , The president, Mr. T. H. Pearson, said he had interviewed the commercial manager of the Railway Department, Mr. A. W. Wellsted, with regard-to the matter, but could get no satisfaction. Mr. Wellsted had argued that the small quantities of honey handled did not warrant special freight concessions being made.■ :< <
