THE SACK TRADE.
In their aunual report to shareholders, the directors of <McKendrick Bros., sack merchants, state:—"The importation of inferior lightweight new sacks, as well as various second-hands, has been a matter of some concern, particularly during the last year, when these conditions have been much more prevalent. In consequence, onr customers — manufacturers, bakers and others —have received less money for their sacks, a matter of considerable importance to them and to the community.. "Your directors consider that- the importation of second-hand sacks should be restricted, as is done in most other countries of the world, and that only new bags be imported of a standard size and specification. This would, save confusion to all users of sacks, save economic waste, and, we feel sure, would have the support of all users of sacks throughout/the Dominion. The directors have already approached the Government on this matter, and have been assured that the whole question will be investigated."
