CRICKET.
THE TEST TRIAL REST IN SOUND POSITION. WARD IX THE WICKETS AGAIN. SYDNEY, October 12. The testimonial cricket match to W. Bardsley and J. M. Gregory between Australia, captained by Richardson, and the Rest, captained by Bradman, was continued today on the Sydney Cricket Ground. When stumps were drawn 011 Saturday each side had completed an innings, Australia's score being 303 and that of the Rest 355. In Australia's second innings to-day Ward (the South Australian slow bowler who took seven for 127 in the first" innings) and Ebeling bowled to such good purpose that six good wickets were down shortly after luncheon for 105 runs. Sievers, aided by Oldfield, then made a useful stand, but the whole side was out before tea for the moderate total of ISO. The Rest, requiring only 159 runs to win, had lost three wickets for 92 when play ceased for the day and npw need only 67 for victory. Both O'Brien and Bradman went early, but Badcock batted briskly and confidently for 43. He was out to a magnificent low catch by Darling. Scores:—■ AUSTRALIA. First innings 363 THE REST.
