BAPTIST UNION.
THE ANNUAL ASSEMBLY. ELECTION OF OFFICERS. This morning's business of the annual assembly of the New Zealand Baptist Union at the Tabernacle was devoted to the election of union officials and committee members. Mr. F. W. Horner, of Hawera, was unanimously elected as the vice-presi-dent of the union, and the Rev. M. W. P. Lascelles was re-elected as union secretary-treasurer. The following are the union council for the ensuing year: The Rev. A. Anstice, Dr. C. North, the Rev. Dr. J. J. North, the Revs. E. N. Goring, J. K. Archer, R. L. Fursdon, M. W. P. Lascelles, J. Hiddlestone, L. A. North, F. A. Parry, L. J. Boulton Smith, A. J. Griff and Messrs. C. Collins, C. J. Darracott, J. . R. Carey, W. A.. Kendon, E. Nees, W. H. Newton, F. W. Horner, A. Edridge, H. Dearsly, H. Falla, H. Ivory, E. McGregor, J. 'J. Purdie.
The Rev. P. L. A. Crampton, of Auckland, was appointed preacher of the Union sermon at the next animal assembly. The Rev. L. B. Busfield was elected to the Dominion Sunday School Council. The following were elected to the home department committee: The Revs. T. R. Page (convener) and R. L. Thursdon, and Messrs. C. S. Hercus and W. J. Gibbs. Chaplains to the forces committee are: The Revs. J. Hiddlestone (convener), L. A. Day and Mr. C. K. Mills. Dr. ,T. J. North was elected editor of the "New Zealand Baptist." Public questions committee: The Rev. H. R. Wood (convener). Union representative to the New Zealand Alliance, the Rev. D. Forale Carlisle. Union representative to the New Zealand Council of Religious Education, the Rev. L. B. Busfield. The business conducted yesterday afternoon and evening was the reception of deputations from the Auckland Ministers' Association and the Auckland branch of the Bible in Schools League. The deputations wished to discuss a working agreement between the free Churches on such questions as' broadcasting and church extensions. A welcome was extended to visiting missionaries at a missionary meeting at the Tabernacle last night, the Rev. A. Anstice presiding. A brief charge was delivered to the Rev. Royston Brown, who is froing to the Tridian mission fields, by the Rev. H. K. Kemnton. After the dedication nraver. which was given by the Rev. W. S. Rollings, the united suburban choirs rendered anthems. The sessions were continued this afternoon and there will be a further sitting this evening.
