KING'S INTEREST.
Physical Fitness of Britain's Youth. SPEECH FROM THE THRONE. LONDON, October 7. The "Daily Mail" political writer says it is understood that the King, in his first Speech from the Throne, at the state opening of Parliament on November 3, will announce the Government's plan for a nation-wide drive to make Britons fit and health-conscious, in which subject His Majesty is taking a personal interest. Schemes already being considered include gymnasiums in every town in the country, additional swimming pools and more open spaces and sports fields, also an intensive propaganda campaign to educate the nation on the necessity for a higher standard of physical fitness. One of the first measures will be designed for the welfare and physical care of children after they leave school.
