CONTRACT SIGNED.
Building of Sister Ship to the Queen Mary. WORK FOB CLYDESIDE. British Official Wireless. RUGBY, October 7. The formal contract between tlie) Cunard-White Star Company and the 1 shipbuilders for the construction of the express steamship known as No. 552, sister ship to the Queen Mary, was signed at Liverpool yesterday. Messrs. John Brown and Company, the contractors, have moved tlie huge crane used in the construction of tlie Queen Mary into position in their yard on the Clyde, and are working on the formation of the keel box for the new liner. An order has already been placed with William Beardmore and Company for the hull castings for No. 552. These castings are of exceptional dimensions. They consist of a cast-steel stem, a caststeel stern frame, cast-steel shaft \ brackets and a cast-steel rudder. They will be manufactured at Messrs. Beardmore's Parkhead works, at Glasgow. The contract is one of tlie largest received by the firm for many years. I
