R.L.S. TALES FILMED.
" SUICIDE CLUB " TO-MORROW. Based on the brilliant stories written about the Suicide Club by Robert Louis Stevenson, a film under the title of " The Suicide Club" is to start screening tomorrow at the St. James Theatre. Starring the suave Robert Montgomery and lovely Rosalind Russell the story should be as bright and thrilling as anything seen here so far this year. The production is claimed to be marked by excellent attention to detail, for the story is laid in the '80's, and there seems to be a light-hearted charm about it that is characteristic- of most of. the films Montgomery appears in. The same charm always seems to be attached also to pictures which deal with the adventures of mythical princes and princesses in mythical kingdoms. In this picture Montgomery is the Crown Prince of Karovia, and Miss Russell, whose rise in the screen world has 'been very rapid, is cast as a princess. The picture promises to be outstanding because of the excellent cast, headed by Frank Morgan, whose comedy sparkles throughout the piece. Reginald Owen, who is remembered for his performance in " Petticoat Fever," dons make-up of a weird and wonderful kind, and plays a prominent part. Others are Louis Hayward, in an intriguing role as " The Young Man With the Cream Tarts," Robert Greig and E. E. Clive. The climax of the picture is a furious rapier duel between Montgomery and Owen, and this is claimed to be highly realistic, and equal to any other combat of its kind ever screened. The mystery with which Rosalind Russell invests her part in the early stages of the story should prove amusing to the audience. Montgomery himself is one of the most consistent and popular stars on the screen today, and there is every reason to believe that in " The Suicide Club " he will score 'yet another sweeping success.
