Some surprising and little-known facts about the lot of women under the! Xazi regime are given in an article by I Hedda Dyson which appears in this 1 week's issue of the "N.Z. Woman's Weekly." All New Zealand women are J interested in how their sisters in Germany are faring, and after reading this article they will feel that they fire fortunate to'be living in a land where women have still rights and opportunities. Another article of general interest, tells what some of the Dominion's | women artists are doing and where they I are working. "Breeding Budgerigars and Canaries" is written by an expert, and gives just the advice that the grow-1 ing army'of fanciers have been looking for. Other practical articles will be found in the knitting, cooking and garden pages. Nurse Helen this week also discusses a subject in which all parents are interested: "Are Pictures Good for Our Children?" The "Dress Your Personality" feature this week is by Dolores Del Rio. Each week one famous film star gives advice on dress; what errors to avoid and how to make the most of one's natural points. The issue includes a full budget of fiction, and the film pages continue the story of how a talkie is made, and also describe the sacrifices which motherhood means for film stars, who in consequence have turned largely to adoption as an outlet for their natural love for children. The big photographic competition, for which the first prize is a free trip to Sydney, or £40 in cash, closes on October 31, and full directions are given for the associated judging contest, for which more cash prizes are being given.
