LICENSES SOUGHT.
NO. 1 AUTHORITY SITTING. TAXI COMPANY PROPOSALS. Evidence and representations in favour of and against the granting and transfer of passenger service licnnses were heard to-day, when a public sitting of the No. 1 Transport Licensing Authority (Mr. E. J. Phelan) was opened. It is expected that the sitting will last two days. An application by Air Transport and Touring Automobiles (Atta), Limited, for a tourist license operating on routes throughout New Zealand was heard. The company proposed to run fourseater oars, the rate planned being 9d per mile. The Checker Taxi Company aLso sought a tourist license for all routes in the Dominion. Decision in both cases was reserved. Unopposed Applications. The following unopposed applications were granted:—New licenses: Passenger Transport Company, variation in Auck-land-Panmure route to include Knox Home; J. D. Woodcock, Pakiri-Wells-ford; P. Wyatt, Paparata-Bombay. Renewals: St. John Ambulance Association (where No. 1 Authority is concerned) ; V. S. Rogers, WeymoutliManurewa. Transfer: V. S. Rogers, Weymouth-Manurewa, to J. G. Smith.
