THE AUCKLAND UNION. CLUBS PLEASED WITH CONTROL. A GENERAL CONFERENCE. 1 l When the Auckland Rugby Football , Union met last night, under the chairmanship; of Mr. Arthur Baker, letters were ' received from several clubs expressing ; appreciation of the efficient manner in which Rugby affairs had been administered I during the season. "It is very pleasing to receive such letters," said Mr. A. J. [ Murdoch. During the evening a conference was , held with the junior management board, ! junior boys' committee, primary schools' union and referees' association with the i object of furthering the general interests [ of the game. It was decided to send letters of congratulation to the Ponsonby and Manukau Clubs, the former on winning the grand championship and the latter on its victory 1 in the senior second division last Saturday. North Shore Club is to be informed that no match against the winner of the senior second division will be necessary. The presentation of trophies to the various successful clubs was discussed, it being finally decided that trophies won this season should be presented at the annual club gatherings, as in the past. Otahuhu was granted permission for its senior team to travel to Waihi next Saturday. SUBURBS WINS SHIELD. EDEN AND GRAMMAR BRACKETED. At last night's meeting of the junior management board of the Auckland Rugby Union it was resolved to bracket the Eden and Grammar intermediate grade teams as joint winners of the knock-out competition for the 193G season. The Suburbs Club was congratulated upon winning the Southland Shield with an average of 86.7 points. A hearty vote of thanks was accorded the chairman, Mr. Arthur Tilly, for the valuable services rendered by him during the season.
