TE RAPA HORSES.
DARK SHADOW'S EFFORT. SMART THREE BY PEXZAXCE. (By Telegraph.—Special to "Star.") HAMILTON, this day. Some interesting work was witnessed a Te Rapa this morning when the cours< proper, with the poles 30 feet out, was available. The going was in first clas: order. Prince Acre, accompanied by Lion Heari over the first five, got to the end of sevei furlongs in 1.34. The first half mile tool 525, and the five furlongs 1.5%. Roya Bachelor was doing slightly better thai: Singara at the completion of half a mile in 51 Royal Bachelor appears to have benefited by the racing he had at Avondale. There was little between Stai Artist and liollicker at the end of foui furlongs in 525. Rollicker sha'ped well Little Leslie, accompanied by an un-nained Acre gelding, occupied 53 3-5s for half s mile, after running their initial three furlongs in 375. Lucidus, who is looking a picture of condition, was not doing hit best at any stage of a round in 2.14. Dark Shadow was sent a mile and a quarter. He jumped off in company with Sir Tommy and Merial, the latter accompanying him over the first six furlongs, and Sir Tommy over a circuit. Sir Tommy carried Dark Shadow along to the six, but from there oil Sir Tommy was of little use to him, and he was fully a dozen lengths in front at- the end of the round. They ran the first three furlongs in 375, the "half mile in 52 2-ss, the five in I.OVi, and six furlongs in 1.20. Dard Shadow s time for the circuit was 2.3—a splendid effort. Light Comedy ran half a mile in 555.- Sergia, accompanied by Tosh oyer the first half mile, reached the five-fur-long post in 1.6 2-5. After breakfast Silver Briar ran a round in 2.6 V&, time she could have improved upon. Young Paddon, a Surveyor filly, and a Little England gelding, brushed over two furlongs along the back in 24%5. Trilliarch and Trouvaille finished practically on terms at the conclusion of half a mile in 52 2-ss, the first three furlongs taking 375. King Rey was doing slightly better than Tradesman at the conclusion of seven furlongs in 1.32% —a useful effort. The first three furlongs were run in 375, the half mile in 525, and six furlongs in 1.19%. King Rey is entered for the second day at the Auckland meeting. Penzance showed her customary speed over three furlongs along the back in a shade under 365. She ran her first furlong in 12s, and two in 23 4-ss.
