TENNIS OPENING.

MOUNT EDEN CLUB. ■* The Mount Eden Tennis Club held a successful opening on Saturday, at which the president, Mr. C. D. Bowler, welcomed all visitors and members and declared the courts open. The patron, Mr. T. McNab, Mayor of Mount Eden, wished the club every success in the new season. Mr. H. Clay, president of the Auckland Lawn Tennis Association, referred to the success of the club and the good standard it had attained in the inter-club matches. Mrs. McNab, the Mayoress, served the first ball for the new season. The winners of the tournament held during the afternoon were Miss Mitchell and Mr. Piper. An enjoyable dance was held in the evening.
