WORK NOT - YET COMPLETED. (By Telegraph-—Own Correspondent.) ROTORUA, this day. Liberations of trout fry in the liotorua, lauj)o and VVaikarernoana districts during the past four months have totalled just short of two million and a half, and it is expected that before tlie liberations are concluded for the present year upwards of five million fry will have been set free. Hie total number of fry liberated in the liotorua Lakes district to date has been 1,592,500, and in the VVaikarernoana district, where liberations have already concluded, 410,000. A considerable number of liberations have still to be made in the Taupo and Tokaanu areas, where the liberations to date have been 454,000. There are at present 800,000 ova in the Ngongotalia hatchery and as soon as the fry from these reach proper stage they will be liberated. Good progress has also been made with work at the Department of Internal Affairs' new game farm at Ngongotalia. Approximately fifty birds have now been established in the first breeding pens and it is anticipated that the first hatches will arrive in the latter part of November. The hatching of pheasant eggs is being carried out chiefly with incubators and broody fowls, the pheasants themselves merely supplying the eggs.
