AT MERTON COLLEGE.

NEW WARDEN ADMITTED

RUGBY, October 7. Sir John N. Mills, Senior Research Fellow of Merton College, Oxford, was admitted to the wardenship of the college in succession to Mr. Thomas Bowman, who has retired after holding the office since 1903. Ancient customs associated with the ceremony were observed. ■ Sir John has been a tutor at Merton since 1899. During the war he was a legal assistant to the Ministry of Munitions and later a solicitor to tlie Ministry of Labour.
