SATURDAY MORNING WORK.
The five-day forty-hour week should be made compulsory for every worker in the Dominion. There is certainly nothing just in the way things are at the present time. Most factory workers and factory office workers are now enjoying a free Saturday morning, and so take the opportunity to go into the city and shop. I am working in the office of a Queen Street shop which since the five-day week lias come into operation has been crowded to the doors every Saturday morning. Twelve o'clock (which should be closing time) finds the customers still trooping in. After a busy Friday night (and Friday night is always busy) this Saturday morning rush is just a little too much for the stall". By closing time on Saturday we feel absolutely worn out —too tired to enjoy the week-end. Our one thought is home and rest. Shop workers arc no better paid than factory workers, and ollice workers arc not as well paid, so why shouldn't <ve, too, have a free Saturdav mornin<r? JUSTICE.
