BUS SERVICE.
HCWICK DISTRICT REQUEST. DEPUTATION TO AUTHORITY. Requests for improvements to the bus service to the Howick and Cockle Bay districts were made by a deputation which waited on the Licensing Authority for the Xo. 1 transport district, Mr. E. J. Phelan at Howick yesterday afternoon. The deputation complained of the infrequency of the services between Auckland and Howick and Cockle Bay and Howick, and urged that the last buses be run later than at presei.t. It was also alleged that the buses at times were overcrowded, and that there had been 110 reduction of fares despite the improvement effected to road surfaces. Mr. Phelan promised to go into the questions raised, and requested the operator concerned carefully to consider the points raised and to submit a report to hi 111 011 the possibility of at least some of the requests being complied with. Later Mr. Phelan travelled to Whitford and viewed routes which are traversed by several operators who will be applying for the renewal of licenses to-morrow. I
