RAPID GROWTH

THE GAME IN AUCKLAND ENTERPRISE OF SOUND EXECUTIVE—VISITS BY OVERSEAS PLAYERS — AUCKLAND HAS SEEN THE WORLD'S BEST — HOPES OF FUTURE INVASIONS. Sprigged boots and Rugby togs have been put away for 1936, and Auckland's youth to-day is preparing for the tennis season. Figures of the Auckland Lawn Tennis Association reveal the increasing popularity of the game, and reports to hand indicate that membership records of all clubs in the Auckland Province will be broken in the coming season. Apart from the large membership of the Auckland and suburban clubs to be sponsored, the Auckland Association has five sub-associations Bay of Plenty, Franklin, Thames Valley, Rodr ley and Kaipara—under its direct control. It is only through the management of a sound and efficient executive that Auckland tennis progresses with such rafrid strides. Without such an able directorate Auckland tennis could not have progressed as it has done in recent years. Enthusiasm for the game itself is the keynote of the success of the executive. Auckland tennis is fortunate in having an enterprising and tireless body of men to lead it on to still greater success. It is through the initiative of this small but gallant band of workers that the Auckland tennis public has been able to watch the world's best in recent years.
