CITY COUNCIL DISPUTE.

MATTER CONSIDERED CLOSED. (By Telegraph.—Press Association.) PALMERSTON NORTH, Tuesday. A statement has been made by Mr. W. B. Tennent that it is not his intention to proceed further with any contemplated proceedings, which he announced at a recent meeting of the City Council he was issuing against Mr. J. Hodgens, M.P., in consequence of a reference to Mr. Tennent contained in a telegram which Mr. Hodgens forwarded to the council three weeks ago. Mr. Tennent said to-day that though he considered that the proaar place for Mr. Hodgens to make a Withdrawal of his statement was the CMBCII table, he understood from people who had attended a public meeting in the Opera House on September 19 that Mr. Hodgens there made the necessary withdrawal. Mr. Tennant now regarded the matter as closed.
