Mr. C. R. Petrie, M.P., will leave for Wellington, by the Limited express this evening. Mr. Justice Johnston returned to Auckland this morning by the Limited express from Hamilton. The Hon. J. Alexander and the Hon. T. Bloodworth, M.L.C.'s will be passengers to Wellington by the Limited express to-night. Adjutant Sydney Bridge, who has been connected with the Salvation Army at Hamilton for some years, has been promoted to the rank of major. Mr. and the Hon. Mrs. Lan Bowater, of London, who are on a short visit to New Zealand, left for Wellington by the express 011 Saturday. Mr. W. Glenn, who for the past five years li?f§ been chairman of the local advisory committee of the New Zealand Refrigerating Company, Limited, _ at Wanganui, has joined the board of directors of that company. Mr. J. Melling, who will soon take up his duties as town clerk of the city of Auckland, is returning from a trip abroad with Mrs. Melling. He is a passenger 011 the Orient liner Orion, which is due at Sydney from London 011 October 21. Mr. E. K. D. Hurdler, manager of the Te Arolia branch of the Bank of Australasia, has received notice of his transfer to the Newtown branch, at Sydney. He will leave next month for Australia. Mr. A. W. Gordon, accountant at the Hamilton branch, has been appointed manager at Morrinsville. and Mr. R. G. Fawkner, who is now manager at the Morrinsville branch, has been transferred to Te Arolia.
