CHURCH ANNIVERSARY.

SERVICE AT ST. MARY'S. To mark the seventy-sixth anniversary of St. Mary's Cathedral special services will be held to-morrow. Archbishop Averill will conduct a confirmation service in the evening. The two wellrknown church figures of Auckland's early days, Bishop Selwyn and B'shop Patteson, built the firt St. Mary's, and also took the services. The magnificent oak tree which stands near ,the gateway was planted by Bishop Selwyn himself. A Lichfield woman who passed through Auckland earlier in the year, has given the church a photograph of Bishop Selwyn's tomb in Lichfield Cathedral. The photograph framed will be hung in the vestry.
