SOCIAL AND DANCE.

INSTITUTE OF SECRETARIES.

A delightful social evening organised by the Auckland members of the New - Zealand of the Australasian Institute of Secretaries was held in the Fabian Club rooms last evening. Bowls of acacia, broom and arum lilies added ' a spring touch to the rooms. On arrival the guests were received by the president, Mr. Nello Porter, and Mrs. Porter, who wore a frock and ' cape of black souple satin, relieved with diamante and a spray of cyclamen. During the evening a varied programme was presented and contributed greatly to the success of the evening. This included solos by Charles Prime, violin solos by Miss Ida Lockwood, songs by Miss Verna Wishart and Mr. Reg. Richards, humorous items by Mr. Dan Flood and Mr. C. Prime, and recitations by. Mr. Jock Allen. A short play, "Going to the Talkies," by Beverley Nicliolls, was presented by Mrs. Nello Porter and Miss Joy Crosher, and a sketch by Noel Coward was given by Mrs. Wallace Smith and Mr. Jack Parsons. Dancing was also enjoyed. Among those present were: Mrs. Leonard Knight, who wore Chinese red and white figured georgette; Mrs. T. H. C. Dawson, i'\y crepe de chine; Mrs. H. E. Strickett, shell pink lace and georgette; Mrs. D. N. Chambers, black c;re satin; Mrs. W. E. Hedditch, black Chantilly -lace and georgette; Mrs. S. G. Kervev, eiel blue cire satin; Mrs. Norman Hayward, Phlox pink floral georgette; Mrs. K. H. Melvin, white embossed ■-velvet; Mrs. V. Williams, maize self-striped crepe; Mrs. H. G. Thorn; (<ll, black rnig velvet; Mrs. H. Dyer; navy coinspot taffeta; Mrs. JockAllen, henna .shot taffeta and gold lame; Mrs. C. Prime, green and black shot taffeta; Mrs. Gordon Dearing, brown souple satin; Mrs. J. Freer, geranium red corded crepe; Mrs. A. G. Fogerty, . bla-ck chiffon; Miss Joy Crosher, cameo pink and mauve shot : taffeta; Miss Ida Lockwood, black ring . velvet; Miss Flora Chilwell, red and . blue floral angel skin; Miss Alison Hooker, black velvet and gold lame tunic frock.
