DIOCESAN SYNOD.

COMMENCING OCTOBER 15. ARRANGEMENTS FOR SESSION. The second session of the' twentyeighth Synod of the Auckland Diocese will be held at St. Mary's Hall, commencing on Thursday, October 15. Among the business for the Synod will be the election of representatives for the General Synod. There will be a celebration of Holy Communion at 8 a.m. at the cathedral on the day prior to the opening of the Synod, and later in the morning addresses will be given by the Rev. Donald Haultain, vicar of All Saint's, Nelson. A meeting will be held 111 the Holy Sepulchre Parish Hall at eight o'clock the same evening, in connection with the Home Mission and Church extension work of the diocese.

Archbishop Averill will deliver his charge in the cathedral at 10.30 on Thursday morning. Afterwards the Synod will adjourn and reassemble in the hall at 3 p.m. for the transaction of business. At the close of the conferences of lay members, arid of the clergy on Friday morning, October 10, members will be the guests of Archbishop and Mrs. Averill at a luncheon in Bishopscourt libi-ary. On the Saturday morning a meeting of St. John's College Association will be held at the college.

Tliis . year Archbishop and Mrs. ,4.verill will be "At Home" to members of Synod and their wives at the Cbncert Chamber, Town Hall, on Saturday afternoon at three o'clock.

On Synod Sunday, the preacher at the cathedral at Mattins will be the Rev. Franc I. Parsons, vicar of Hclensville, while the Rev. B. P. Williams, M.A., vicar of Tuakau, will preach at even-

song. The proceedings of Synod are open to the public and Church people are invited to attend.

Proposals of far reaching consequences are embodied in the report of the Boundaries' Commission, which is to be presented. The commission, composed of the Archdeacons of Auckland, Waimate and Manukau, the Revs. P. S. Smallfield and R. L. Connolly and Messrs. G. A. Kissling and J. E. Barton, was authorised by last year's to consider the question of the alteration of the boundaries of the parishes in the diocese, with a view to increasing the efficiency of the work of the Church and to relieve the strain on the financial resources of the central fund.
