P. AND T. STAFFING. TRANSFER OF OFFICIALS. PRESENTATION AT REMUERA. After a period during which transfers and promotions have been few and far between, the staffing arrangements in the Auckland post and- telegraph district are at present undergoing considerable changes. . > Mr. J. Gearey, postmaster at Remuera Since March, 1921, commenced his retiring leave as from to-day, and his successor will be Mr. C. W. Williams, of Maunganui, who will take over his new duties in about three weeks' time.

Mr.-Clouston made reference Mr. Gearey's • fine record of service during • the 40 years ho had been- connected v with the Department, and -spoke of - his popularity as a postmaster, both with the public and the staff. He wished Mr. Gearey happiness and prosperity for the future. ' Mr. Gearey commenced his work with the Department as a message boy at Thames, and cjime to Auckland as a cadet, in 1903.

A recent departure from Auckland has been Mr. T. M. Crawford, the Wellesley Street „ postmaster, who has gone to To Kuiti on promotion. _ His position in Auckland will be filled, by Mr. R. C. Galbraith, postmaster at Kaikohe, who will arrive in about ten days' time.

Mr. It. E. Williams; postmaster at Otahuhu, has left on promotion also, going to the position of postmaster at Morrinsville, while Mr. F. Auld, postmaster at Huntly, has received notice of his transfer to Otahuhu. Mr. Auld is expected to take up his new appointment in, a fortnight.

Next week. Mr. M. P. Cleary, postmaster at Newmarket, will transfer to Waitara on promotion. So far liis position has hot been filled, but a decision in the matter is expected to be made in the immediate future.
