TO-DAY IN CHRISTCHURCH. COLES' SHARES ADJUSTED. 1940 BONDS FIRM. (By Telegraph.—Spccinl to "Star.") CHRISTCHURCH, this day. Though the quotation list at the morning's call was a lull one, only a few sales were recorded. Values were steady for most issues. Main features included readjustment values for Coles' shares, which were quoted ex lights to the new issue but cum dividend. Sales were made at £3 16/9 and £3 16/6, and rights were quoted from £1 11/ to £1 16/. In the Government section 1940 bonds were up by 5/ in reported sales. Further buyers on 'Change offered £104 7/6, sellei's not quoting. Banks remained quiet. New Zealands had sellers at £1 18/6, buyers at the level of yesterday's sale. Unions were close to I business with quotations between £9 9/ and £9 10/. Among breweries New Zealands were unaltered, with sellers still at £2 12/. Melbourne Co-op.'s were asked for at £2 10/6, holders £2 12/9. In the miscellaneous section Beath's were easier, with sellers at £1 2./, buyers £1 0/6. Hays were very firm, with buyers for fully paids at £1 2/, and for 15/ paids at 16/. National Elt'ctrics moved up, and finished with a market from 14/1 to 15/. Australian industrials were in steady request without much change in values. A good demand came in for some mining shares. Marthas were quoted from 19/10 to £1 1/6, and Morgans appreciated to 14/10.
