I The retirement is announced of Captain Evan Evans, master of the Bass, Strait steamer Taroona,. and formerly j in command of the Union Company's j Rotoiti, the Manapouri, the Karitane, the Karori, the Rotoniahana, the Taviuni, the Wainui (first), the Wakatipn. the Ngatoro, the Kanna and the ( Kokiri. Captain Evans has been appointed harbourmaster at Burnie, Tasmania.
