Mr. Justice Johnston arrived in Auckland from Hamilton last niglit. Wing-Commander Allan Hepburn, of Melbourne, will be a passenger in the Niagara, which is due at Auckland on October 26. Major-General C. W. F. Melville, who has a distinguished army record as a medical officer, will arrive at Auckland from Sydney by the Wangan.eJ.la on Tuesday. Mr. H. H. Watkins, secretary-engineer of the Auckland and Suburban Drainage Board, returned to Auckland from a business visit to Wellington this morning. Mr. A. S. Sutherland, the sitting elective member, was yesterday returned unopposed to the Auckland Land Board. Nominations for the election, to be held on December 7, closed yesterday. Dr. F. J. Borrie, formerly commissioner of the St. John Ambulance Brigade in Cliristchurch, has been inducted as metropolitan commissioner for the Dimedin district of the boy scout movement. Mr. J. A. Lee, Parliamentary UnderSecretary to the Minister of Finance and controller of the State housing activities, left for Wellington by the Limited express last evening. Mr. J. E. Emlyn-Jones, representing the Cardiff and Newport Chambers of Commerce, left last evening by the Limited express to attend the congress of the Federation of Chambers of Commerce of the British Empire, in Wellington.
