RIVERHEAD CLUB

WESLEY Y.M.I. CLUB. The Weeley Young Men's Institute Tennis Club season was officially opened with an attendance of members, friends and visitors from other clubs well up to the standard of previous years. l Prior to declaring the courts open for play, the president, Rev. E. T. Olds, traced the history of this activity during the 35 years the W.Y.M.I, had continued in existence and expressed satisfaction that the maximum membership of 60 had readily been anplied for in this, the club's tenth season since its resurrection. The opening cermouy was followed by an official photograph and afternoon tea, while a progressive tournament conducted during the afternoon wae won by E. W. Struckett and Miss N. M. Hickling.

MOUNT ROSKILL CLUB,

At the official opening ceremony of the Mount Roskill Lawn Tennis Cli'b. there was a larsre attendance of members and visitors. Speeches were made by the pr<<«» dent, Mr. Miller, the patron. Mi's. Kother. and Messrs. F. C. ElKs and McCullough. Mr. Ellis represented the Auckland Lawn Tennis Association. A pleasant fenture of the afternoon was the presentation to the club| 0 by Mrs. Kother of a silver cup, dedi catetf to the memory of the late Mr. Kotlier, i

who was patron for several years. The trophy will be competed for annually by members of the club. The playing of the first ball was performed by Mrs. Millar. A social was lield in the evening.

The report presented at the annual meeting of the Riverhead Tennis Club stated that the membership totalled 65. Officers elected: —President, Mr. A. A. Levy; vicepresidents, Messrs. P. Langard. sen.. K. Gould, P. Pook and F. Ball; secretary, Mr. N. McMillan; assistant secretary and treasurer, Mr. -K. C. Hall; captain, Mr. C. Hall; vice-captain. Mr. R. Hall; committee, Messrs. A. Burr, R. Gould, Alan Winchester, Alexander Winchester. E. Ellices, C. Hall, C. King, I. Pook and l'OOk; delegates to the Kaipara Subassociation, Messrs. R. Hall. N. McMillan It was agreed to enter teams in _ the a and B grade competitions of the Kaipara Sub-association.
