WEST YORKSHIRES AT WINDSOR.

FIRST TIME SINCE 1759. The guard at Windsor Castle for three weeks recently was mounted by the Second Battalion West Yorkshire Regiment. It was the first occasion since 1913 that a line regiment had undertaken these duties. The Yorkshires relieved the First Battalion Coldstream Guards while they were on manoeuvres. The last time the West Yorkshire Regiment was stationed at Windsor was in 1759, when, in recognition of their soldierly conduct on foreign service, they were selected to mount guard at the castle. They were then known as the 14th Foot. The battalion is at present stationed at the Tower of London, and the detachment sent to Windsor consisted of 200 men.
