CANCELLATION - REPORTED. (Received 9.30 a.m.) CHICAGO, September 29. L. Pian, manager for Barney Ross, holder of the world's welter-weight boxing title, told an Associated Press representative that lie has cabled Charles Lucas, who was promoting a bout in Sydney in December between Ross and Jack Carroll, the Australian vrelter champion, that lie has cancelled negotiations on account of the failure of Luca3 to lodge the stipulated deposit. Pian added that he was now negotiating for a contest for Ross at Madison Square Garden, New York, with Lou Ambers, who recently defeated Tony Canzoneri. Ross is leaving on Thursday for Wisconsin to begin training. A week ago Charles Lucas announced in Sydney that Pian had agreed to accept a deposit of 7000 dollars, and to take a final payment in October of the amount arranged for, and that the sum of £1750 had been cabled as a first deposit.
