TREE PRESERVATION.
INTEREST IN DOMINION. COMMENT BY MINISTER. (By Telegraph.—Press Association.) WELLINGTON, this day. It is the opinion of the Minister of Internal Affairs, the Hon. W. E. Parry, that greater interest than formerly is being taken by the people in the preservation of native trees and plants. "If the spirited action which citizens are taking to-day had been taken a. fewyears back," he said, "one can imagine the picture we now would have had presented along the highways and certain areas around the cities. It is not the past that we should worry about however, but the future." The Minister quoted correspondence received by him relative to destruction and conservation, and said it was gratifying to find parents instilling into the minds of their children the need for protecting native plants and kees.
