SUBSTANTIAL INCREASE. i A LARGE SURPLUS FUND. (From Our Own Correspondent.) SUVA, September 14. The colony continues in a flourishing condition financially, and a relief in much of the taxation is hoped for before long. For the eight months ending August 31, the Customs revenue showed a total of £'297,659, against the estimate of £253,060, giving a net increase of £43,993. For the six months ending June 30 the budgeted surplus of assets over liabilities was £370,779, the total revenue for the six months being £353,416. Business is steady, and the rapid increase in the tourist traffic has made it more easy to show a profitable credit balance among business houses. i
