AUSTRALIAN PARTY.

MOST STATES REPRESENTED. POSITIONS OF MR. G. GROOM. A large number of Australian delegates arrived by the Awatea this morning. The delegates represented chambers of commerce in the various States, and included officials of the Bank of New South Wales. The party included ilr. George Groom, president of the Federation of Chambers of Commerce of Queensland, Professor Torliev Hytten, head' of the economics department in Sydney of the Bank of New South Wales, and the Hon. H. M. Ruasell (Brisbane), a member of the Legislative Assembly. The delegates were welcomed at their hotels by officials of the Auckland chamber. Mr. Groom is the first newspaper man to hold the post of president of the Federation of Chambers of Commerce of Queensland. Mr. Groom is in the unique position of being also president of the Federation of Chambers of Commerce of Far Northern Queensland. He was selected to represent the- Australian Provincial Press Association at the Fifth Imperial Press Conference in South Africa last year, and is a member of the Australian section of the Empire Tress Union. Professor Hytten, who was formerly professor in economics in Tasmania, was born in North Europe and came to Australia as a young man. He is also an authority on transport matters. The other delegates are: —Sydney Chamber: Messrs. R. M. Clark, immediate past president, F. H. Corke, vicepresident. A. Spencer Watts, past president, and ,T. Maitland Paxton, past president. Melbourne: Messrs. A. Bright, C.8.E.. past president, and A. H. Fitzliardinge, manager of the Victoria branch of the Bank of New South Wales, and Captain T. A. Lennox-Bigger, secretary. Brisbane: Mr. T. B. Hooper, president. Adelaide: Mr. W. B. Darker. Newcastle: Mr. T. B. HefTer. Launceston: Mr. T. Shields,.president, and Mr. H. F. Smith, secretary.

Mr. M. S. H. Catts, director of the Trades and Finance Corporation, Sydney, is another delegate.
