WAIKATO TROTS.
KING'S GUIDE SCORES. Spessiva asid Native Princess On Winning List. The spring meeting of the Waikato Trotting Club opened at Claudelands this afternoon in fine weather. There is a large attendance, and the course is ill good order. Gloster was the only defection from the Introductory Handicap, with which the meeting commenced, and Spessiva, Transfer and Aerial Hell commanded most respect during the Chartcris Buy was slow to move, Transfer being in charge when the field settled down from Aerial Bell, Hori Bingen, I'ink Lady and Spessiva. Passing the stands Aerial Bell was just clear of Transfer, with Derby Lu, Xawton 2?arrish, Pink Lady, Hori Bingen and Spessiva following. Aerial Bell still maintained her position along the back from Derby Lu, Transfer, Nawton Parrish, Pink Lady and Spessiva, who was moving up. There was little change at the home turn, except that Spessiva had run into fourth place. Continuing on, he got up in time to beat Transfer by a neck, with Xawton Parrish a length and a half away third. Derby Lu followed at an interval of a length, with Aerial Bell, Hori Bingen and Bold Venture next. A Close Finish. A great finish was provided in the Eureka Handicap, for which all the acceptors went to the post, Native Princess just getting the verdict from Great Sonoma. .Stalky was installed favourite, while Vain Lad and Reception were next in demand. Native Princess began best and was never afterwards headed. Along the back she was followed by Stalky, who was breaking a bit, with Rembrandt, Great Sonoma, Vain Lad and Go Nap following. Passing the stands Native Princess was a shade in front of Stalky, the pair being attended by Great Sonoma, Vain Lad and Colleen Murphy. Going, along the back tjie last time Native Princess was still in charge from Stalky, who was still breaking. Vain Lad, Great Sonoma and Colleen Murphy. Native Princess was first into line from Vain Lad, Great Sonoma and Colleen Murphy. Great Sonoma then challenged and -ranging alongside Native Princess he looked the winner, but about ]."> yards from the post left his feet and Native Princess beat him by half a head. Stalky was a length and a half away third, with a similar distance back to Vain Lad. who was followed by Reception, Rose Marble and Go Nap. Run at Slow Pace. The Waikato Handicap attracted a field of live, Roekclia and Ironside declining their engagements. Most money came for Treasure Bond, while King's Guide and Star Pronto were next favoured. Our McKinney was plowaway, and passing the stands the first time King's Guide was in charge from Wit.aw ay, Treasure Bond, Star Pronto and Our McKinney. There was no alteration when they came round again, but entering the back stretch the last time Star Pronto moved up fast on'y to go to a break and drop back last. King's Guide held his place along the back from Winaway, Treasure Bond, Our McKinney and Star Pronto, and this order was maintained round the" home bend, King's Guide drawing away to score easily by three lengths and a half from Treasure Bond, who beat Winaway by two lengths. A similar distance back came Our McKinney, with Star Pronto last. The placed horses took much longer to complete the journey than they were handicapped to do.
