;'MR. W. J. SOMMERVIIJU3 I RETURNED. II a (From Our Own Correspondent.) PUKEKOHE, Friday. An election which was held to-day to fill the Mauku Hiding seat on tlje Franklin County Council resulted in the return of Mr. W. J. Sommerville. Mr. Sommerville received 248 votes, as against the 188 votes recorded in favour of'the only other candidate, Mr. R. O. Hcqry. poll was a heavy one, over 75 per cent of the electors exercising their franchise. The seat became vacant by tH4 recent death of Mr. Joseph Henry.
