Great Landslides Envelop Seven Villages. HIMALAYAN DISASTER. LONDON, September. 11. The Bombay correspondent of the "Daily Telegraph" states that hundreds of lives have been lost in great landslides which completely demolished seven Himalayan villages in Garhwal. There were no survivors. The first inkling of the disaster was •gained when human bodies, carcases of animals and wreckage began to drift down from the Himalayas on the floodswollen waters -of the River Ganges. The landslide*) apparently occurred at night and overwhelmed the villagers while they slept.
