The final round of county cricket resulted:— Middlesex: First innings, 2GO (Hendren 104; Cover five for 59); second, 280 (Hendren 101). Surrey: First innings, 127 (Sims six for 45); second, 157. Middlesex won by 25G runs. Leicester: First innings, 151 (Copson four for 34); second, 121 (Pope four for 44). Derby: First innings, 338 (Smith 169, Wortliington 102). Derby won by an ifmings and 06 runs.

Worcester: First innings, 319; second, 179. Essex: First innings, 188 (Wilcox

94; Perks six for 60); second. 125 (Howorth five for 50). Worcester won by 185 runs. Lancashire: First innings, 423 (Washbrook 103). Somerset: First innings, 253 (Mitcliell-Innes 127); follow-on, seven for 385 (Meyer 202 not out). Lancashire won on the first innings. Notts: First innings_, 200; second, 215. Gloucester: First innings, 485 (Hammond 317). Gloucester won by an innings and 70 runs. Hampshire: First innings, 174 (Bowes six for 00); second, 228 (Verity six for 74). Yorkshire: First innings, eight for 378, declared (Turner 115 not out); second, none for 25. Yorkshire won by 10 wickets. Eleven centuries, the greatest number of the present season, were scored on Monday. Hammond's 317 was the season's highest individual score. It occupied 0J hours, and included three sixes and 34 fours. He gave an only chance at 220. He shed all restraint towards the finish,- scoring the last 113 runs in 80 minutes. Hammond thus scored 1281 runs in August, three better than Dr. Grace's achievement in 1870.

Hendren, in the course of scoring two separate hundreds, completed his thousand runs in August. Other Matches.
