CLOSING ON SATURDAY
RESTAURANTS AT DUNEDIN
HALF-HOLTDAY FOR EMPLOYEES. (By Telegraph.—Own Correspondent.; DUNEDIN, Tuesday. To counteract the rising costs of labour and restrictive working conditions caused by the recent legislation, the largest two restaurants and tearooms in Duiiedin have decided to introduce a general halfholiday for their stall's, and will close from 1 p.m. on Saturdays as from this week. "For 25 years we have been providing a service for Saturday night entertainment seekers, and we regret that conditions now make it impossible for us to continue to provide them with a rendezvous," said Mr. Philip Barling, the manager of the largest tearooms in Dunedin. "I know that the public will be disappointed at. the decision, which lias been forced on the" largest two tearooms, but they will also appreciate liow difficult it would have been for us to conduct our daily business under the new half-holiday and shorter hours conditions."
