ALL-MEW ZEALAND FINAL

" AUSTRALIAN WOMEN'S TITLE. e £ MISS KAY AND MRS. SMITH AGAIN. ADELAIDE, September 1. The semi-finals of the women's golf 7 championship of Australia were played to-day in beautiful weather conditions. The sky was cloudy and there was a slight i breeze. ;s Mrs. Fullcrton-Smitli (New Zealand) ;> beat Mrs. Negus (West Australia), 5 and 13. • Miss Oliver Kay (New Zealand) beat 3 Miss Hutton (Victoria), 2 up. 5 Miss Kay had a hard tight against 3 her YiAorian opponent. Both played (i exceptional golf. Miss Kay approximated 77 and Miss Hutton 80. The first six }j seemed to bother Miss Hutton. She was |! 3 down to-day at that stage. This deficit 7 was too much and she could not square 7 the match. 7 Mis.? Kay went out in 39 and was 2 s np. She lost the seventh to a birdie 2 o and the eighth to 4. She won the long o ninth with a par 5, took the tenth and S lost the twelfth to another birdie 2. !) The thirteenth was a bad hole. Miss it Kay took three to reach the green, and then three putts to be only 1 up. The jj next four were halved. Miss Kay won j the last with a par 4 for the match. Neither Mrs. Fullerton-Sraith nor Mrs. Negus played in their best form. Mrs. 9 Negus' fault on the greens was missing •' easy putts. She was 2 down at the turn, y and should have been square. Mrs. 0 Fullerton-Smitli went out in 44, and Mrs. 0 Negus in 40. The New Zeftlander got a 0 birdie 3 at the tenth, and was 4 up. 1 She lapsed in her putts at four holes } after this, but her opponent could not 7 take the advantage. 1 1 Mrs. Fullerton-Smitli took three putts 1 at the short twelfth, missing a two-footer, 2 but she stymied her opponent to take the ~ hole and become 4 up. She won the thiro teentli with a 6, lost the next to a par '•< 4. making her dormie 4. Then she won 3 the fifteenth with a par 5 for the match. 4 Miss Kay's form suggests that she is 5 likely to win the final, to be played to--2 morrow over 30 holes, but Mrs. Fullertonp Smith will be her strongest opponent to (• date. . . 0 — 7 VICTORIAN TITLE. 7 g OPENING MATCH PLAY. 8 MELBOURNE,!.
