There has not been a great ileal of activity on the Auckland Stock Exchange since yesterday's report appeared. Turnover has been moderate and values steady.

Coles showed little reaction to news from the annual meeting At this morning's call the shares sold at £4 0/6, with lacer quotations irom £4 tc £4 0/9. Wool worths (Sydney) continued weak, best buyers stopping at £5 3/6, but there were no sellers. The banking section was steady, but Commercials cased, with a market between 18/3 and 18/6. New Zealands were from £1 19/2 to £1 19/9. Gas shares were steady at the new level, selling at £1 3/, with a later market from £1 2/10 to £1 3/2. Dominion Breweries were again in request, with a buyer at £1 9/9 and nc sellersUnion Oils were firm, and a buyei moved up 3d, to £1 11/3, without interesting holders. Government stocks were in request foi all issues, but after a sale of o'/a's unchanged, at £103 15/, the only line on offer was a parcel of '49 bonds, for which £106 10/ was asked. Better Tone Evident. There was a healthier tone in _ the market at noon, when several advanc-es in values were recorded, particularly in Bycrofts, New Zealand Breweries and Australian Glass. Among the banks, Commercials had their limits narrowed to a penny, and Xew Zealands had sellers a penny lower, at £1 19/ S. New Zealand Insurances were still in request at the ruling rate. For Auckland Gas offers were raised a penny. There was a firm inquiry for Kaiapoi Wools, buyers moving up to 15/7. New Zealand Breweries had an unsatisfied demand at the new price, with sellers at £2 12/9. The improvement in the' miscellaneous sections was reflected in better quotes for British Tobaccos, Electrolytic Zincs and Farmers' Fertilisers. Consolidated Bricks closed between 9/5 and 9/6.
