LOCAL BODIES.
MT. ALBERT BOROUGH COUNCIL
The Mount Albert Borough Council met last evening, the Deputy-Mayor, Mr. A. Anderson, presiding. Owairaka Park.—The engineer reported that excavation for the extension of the football ground and the soiling of the reserve in the old scoria pit were receiving due attention. Labour Day.—A donation of £2 2/ was made to the Labour Day committee, Trades Hall, to assist in providing an outing for the children on Labour Day. Milk Producers and Vendors. —A letter was received from the Auckland Fresh Milk and Vendors' Association, asking that the council pass a resolution "urging the Government to take steps to protect producers and vendors from having their licenses cancelled or limited in any way by the further Amendment Bill shortly to come before Parliament." After some discussion it was decided to take no further action in the matter. Meter Water Supply Rate. —No change is to be made in the present meter water supply rate for the year. Community Lighting.—On the recommendation of the Deputy-Mayor it was decided to adopt the community lighting scheme proposed by the Auckland Electric Power Board. Part of the cost will be met by the Mount Albert Businessmen's Association. New Theatre in Borough.—Since it was considered that the borough was already adequately served by the existing theatres, the council was of the opinion that no license should be issued for a new theatre. The Department of Industries and Commerce will be advised accordingly. HENDERSON TOWN BOARD.
The ordinary monthly meeting of the Henderson Town Board was presided over by Mr. H. Norcross last night. Waitakere Ridge Road.—An appeal from the Auckland City Council for contributions to the Waitakere Ridge Road scheme was deferred pending the receipt of further particulars. Health Stamp Campaign. —- The- board was requested by the Henderson postmaster to co-operate with the Post and Telegraph Department in organising a Health Stamp campaign in the district. It was suggested that two representatives should be appointed to the working committee. Fire Engine—The town clerk was instructed to obtain quotations for improvements to the fire engine, aa recommended by the superintendent of the brigade. Heavy Traffic Fees.—lt was decided to accept proposals received from the Auck-! land City Council proportioning heavy traffic fees on the 1933-34 basis. Health Regulations.—The registration oi premises used for the manufacturing or retailing of foodstuffs was discussed as a necessary step in., enforcing regulations under the Health Act, especially with regard to the exclusion of dogs from such Truck Licenses.—lt was resolved to check up on motor truck licenses and to investigate the matter of casual pas-senger-carrying excursions.
