KARAKA DIVISION.

There was a good attendance of members at the August meeting of the Karaka W.D.F.U., Mrs. Lewis presiding. The speaker for the afternoon was Mrs. H. T. King, who delighted members with Maori- songs and legends?. The roll call "Humorous Advertisements," caused a good deal of laughter. The "Best Flower" competition resulted as follows: Mrs. Howie 1, Mrs. Higham 2, Miss M. Bryant 3; and the points for the best plate of pastry were awarded to Mrs. Tibbie 1, Mrs. Wright 2, Miss Isabel Bryant 3. Mrs. Burley was the winner of the written competition. Hostesses were Mesdames Bryant, Higliani, Howie, and Misses Mary and Isabel Bryant.
